How You Can Help
We’re passionate about raising the quality of life of our wonderful friends in Kiandu. They are incredibly open and vibrant people who deserve to live healthy, happy, meaningful lives. We’re bloody determined to make that happen. We are going to make this village an example of what happens when people get together in the name of kindness! Get on board.
‘Friends of Kiandu’ is a collaborative effort. We are a creative, inspired, determined bunch of people, all putting forth our own little contribution to the Kiandu story. What started off as 4 mates on a trip to Kenya has become an ever growing team both in Australia and in Kenya. We have come a long way but boy there is plenty left to do. We would LOVE you join us! We would be most grateful for any support you can give.
There are 3 ways you can support our beautiful Kiandu Village
1. You could donate (your own funds or via fundraising efforts)
2. You could donate your ideas, expertise and/or your time
3. Go visit Kiandu!
Donations
Any donations to Kiandu will go 100% to the village. No marketing or admin fee’s and no bull. Everything you give goes straight there.
If you choose to donate to Kiandu every single penny you give….that means 100% of it gets there. If you like you can have some visual feedback. We can take pictures of what your dosh went to and send it to you to see with your own eyes. You can also see the receipts for everything we buy (just ask us for them)
You might find it inspiring to sponsor a specific project for the school. For example you could cement a classroom floor (to prevent children being bitten by jiggers), you could sponsor the school feeding program, donate a laptop, or buy books for the school library. Its up to you!

You could raise the dosh through fundraising. You can get super creative and have heaps of fun with fundraising.
You could invite your mates over for a little mini charity dinner and ask them to pay a donation in exchange for your yummy cooking. You could do something daring or silly or nice (like nude surfing or be someones slave for a day) and get sponsorship from your mates. You could host a silent auction or sell something or have a charity poker night. Lots of fun ideas!

As I have said repeatedly to my mates, My time in Kiandu was definitely up there in the best travel experiences i have ever had in my life, so i know you will have a magical and meaningful time if you do come. I have never been so deeply immersed in a culture before. We have truly made some lifelong friendships and we have been made to feel like part of a wonderful family here in Kiandu. Now that we have created this spirit of Harambee (pulling together as a community for a common purpose) we feel so close to the parents and the children and teachers. Its truly incredible. Once you come here you’ll sure be glad you did.
We know that anyone from Australia that comes here will be received with incredible enthusiasm. You will immediately be treated like family. We told them to expect more Aussies so they are waiting for you with open arms!
